woo! better late than never, right?!

Well, I am clearly the least technologically with it of the group... this is my first blog :)
That being said, I'm kind of really looking forward to the reading in preparation for this trip.  I  love reading, and so far I think I'm really going to enjoy reading Yunus' literature.  I went with Bob (and Stephanie C.!!) to Guatemala last year, and there was kind of a huge focus on the permanence of poverty and the immutability of the living situation for the people we were serving.  That kind of service is really important (eg. Haiti) but I really appreciate that the intention behind this philosophy is to alter the infrastructure of environments where cyclic poverty is endemic, it's certainly a lot more hopeful.  I like that too.
I don't know what to expect from the other people in the group, I expect that they will quickly notice that I am embarrassingly inept with name recollection, (so if I've already forgotten yours, I promise it isn't because you're forgettable. It's my bad. I'm sorry.) but I can't wait to hear everyone's input and reactions to the readings.  I can't wait to learn about Belize and it's history, culture, economy, international relations... the more I learn about a place before traveling there, the more I tend to enjoy it once there.  Well, I guess everyone else in the group is probably the same.  That's why I'm especially excited to go on this trip with this group of people, there are so many who've been there before, and so many others who are excited about learning all about this place together.  This is going to be great!! Go team Belize!! :)
